About Anderson Custom Rods

What’s New!

Anderson Custom Rods has expanded our line of two-handed rods 11 ft 7 inch rods, with 5, 6, and 7 weight models, as well as a redesigned 4 weight.  In addition, based on the overwhelming success of our 12 ft Elite Series Supreme models, it is obvious that the trend is towards shorter two-handed rods.  Once again, Anderson Custom Rods is at the forefront of the two-handed rod movement.

We have also added several more models of our Elite Series two-handed rods as Skandit® models.  Skandit® is a registered trademark of Anderson Custom Rods and come with two different tip sections.  One tip is lighter, more flexible, and best suited for Scandi style floating heads.  A second tip is more rigid, puts the bend lower in the rod, and allows for easier and smoother casting of Skagit style heads and tips.

Your Anderson Custom Rod

Whether your choice is two-weight or two-handed, Anderson Custom Rods builds all types of high quality fly rods.  Specializing in rods built on our own rod blanks, Anderson Custom Rods has been building what many consider the finest custom rods available – since 1980.  Why is an Anderson Custom Rod superior to all others?  Because I give each rod attention to detail that is surpassed by none.  Your custom rod starts with my earnest desire to build for you not only an outstanding fishing instrument, but also a showpiece of the rod maker’s art.

Our line of two-handed rod includes models from two to nine weights.  At Anderson Custom Rods, we do not make two-handed switch rods; however, we have many different models of shorter two-handed rods.  All our 2 handed rods are constructed with handles and lined for spey casting.  However, if you choose to use them for overhead casting, simply use a smaller line size/weight and go fishing!

Each Anderson Custom Rod begins with a great blank.  All ACR rod graphite blanks are designed and custom built for us.  Before any work begins, each blank is carefully examined for straightness and finish, and the spine located and marked.  All Anderson Custom Rods are built on spine, always!  We can also build your custom rod on your favorite Sage Rod blank and customize the rod to your specifications.

Our rod handles are constructed of only the finest Portuguese cork in combination with composition cork trims.  The composition cork adds durability to the handle and adds a unique custom touch.  Whether two-handed, Ultra-fine, Full Wells, or our unique Saltwater Unigrip, each handle is shaped to your specification.  Our rod guides are made to our specifications and before wrapping, the feet are carefully hand ground to a fine taper to allow the thread wraps to merge from blank to guide perfectly.  This makes the ultra thin epoxy coating even more striking.

With our Deluxe Finish, the lower grip on two-handed models includes my custom wood insert “D” loop.  In addition, each guide and butt section wrap is highlighted with my original gold or silver wire trim.  My custom reel seat in the color of your choosing makes your Anderson Custom Rod is just that – custom, and can be mounted either up- or down-locking, just the way you want it!

A lifetime warranty on workmanship and materials is yours with rods built on ACR or Sage blanks.  There is a flat fee of $50 for any tip or mid-section, and $75 for any butt section repair, not including return shipping costs.
